Trek Description
The Mardi Himal trek is ideal for those who want a quieter, less crowded alternative to more popular treks like the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. This trek offers a more peaceful and authentic experience of the Annapurna region. The trail is filled with pristine natural beauty, from lush forests to alpine meadows, and gives trekkers a glimpse into the rural life of the local communities. The moderate Mardi Himal trek difficulty level makes it accessible to trekkers with a reasonable level of fitness. It is also shorter than many other treks in the region, typically taking around 7-8 days, making it perfect for those with limited time but still craving an unforgettable Himalayan adventure. At We Ramblers, we offer 8-day Mardi Himal trek packages that provide an unforgettable trekking experience in the Annapurna region.
The Mardi Himal trek route is packed with incredible sights, from scenic villages to majestic mountains and tranquil lakes. One of the trek’s most captivating features is the series of quaint mountain villages scattered along the route. These villages, such as Siding, Lwang, and Pothana, offer a glimpse into the traditional lifestyles of the Gurung and Magar communities. Here, you can observe age-old practices, enjoy warm hospitality, and savor local delicacies. The terraced fields surrounding these settlements are a visual treat, with their vibrant hues changing with the seasons.
As you ascend, the lush forests become a defining feature of the Mardi Himal trek in Nepal. The trail winds through dense woods filled with rhododendrons, oak, and pine trees. During the spring, the rhododendrons bloom in a riot of colors, creating a magical atmosphere. These forests are also home to various birds and wildlife, making the Mardi Himal trek adventure a paradise for nature enthusiasts and photographers.
Along the way, you’ll pass through grassy ridges and open viewpoints like Forest Camp, Low Camp, and High Camp, each offering unique perspectives of the surrounding landscape. Forest Camp is the first major resting point on the Mardi Himal trek with We Ramblers, located at an altitude of approximately 2,600 meters. Low Camp marks the transition from thick forests to open meadows and ridges. The camp provides stunning glimpses of the Himalayan peaks, including the iconic Machhapuchhare (Fish Tail) and Annapurna South. High Camp, located at roughly 3,580 meters, is one of the most remarkable points on the Mardi Himal trek route. From here, the landscape becomes more rugged, with alpine meadows replacing the dense forests. The views from High Camp are nothing short of breathtaking, offering unobstructed sights of Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhare, and the towering peaks of the Annapurna range.
The route transitions into high-altitude meadows, offering sweeping views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. One of the key Mardi Himal expedition highlights is the Mardi Himal Base Camp, situated at an elevation of 4,500 meters. After you have covered the Mardi Himal trek distance, you will reach the Base Camp. From this vantage point, you can enjoy close-up views of Mardi Himal, the iconic Machhapuchhare (Fish Tail), and other towering peaks like Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. The sunrise and sunset views here are particularly mesmerizing, with the mountains glowing in golden and orange hues.
The weather during the Mardi Himal trekking journey can vary significantly depending on the season and altitude. In general, the trek experiences a moderate climate, but it’s essential to prepare for fluctuating temperatures.
Spring and Summer (March to May): This is one of the best times for the Mardi Himal trek for beginners and experienced trekkers alike. The weather is mild, with clear skies and pleasant temperatures ranging from 10°C to 20°C at lower altitudes and freezing temperatures at higher elevations. Spring also brings the rhododendron flowers into bloom, adding vibrant colors to the landscape.
Autumn and Winter (September to December): It is another period considered the Mardi Himal trek best time. Autumn offers stable weather and clear skies. Temperatures range from 15°C to -5°C, with colder conditions at higher Mardi Himal trek Altitudes. This is also the peak trekking season in Nepal, so the trails will be busier.
Rain (June to August): This is the monsoon season in Nepal, bringing heavy rainfall. While the lower elevations remain accessible, the high-altitude parts of the trek can be challenging due to wet and slippery trails. This season is best avoided for safety reasons.
Winter (January and February): Winter conditions can be harsh, with temperatures often dropping below freezing, especially at higher altitudes. Snowfall is common in higher regions, making the trek difficult. It’s only suitable for experienced trekkers who are well-prepared for cold conditions.
As you can find on the Mardi Himal trek map, the trek route is located in the central region of Nepal, within the Annapurna Conservation Area. The trail takes trekkers through a wide variety of terrain, including lush forests, alpine meadows, rocky ridges, and snow-covered paths at higher altitudes.
The trek begins at the town of Pokhara, a popular tourist hub that serves as the starting point for many treks in the region. From there, the trail ascends through terraced fields and forests before reaching higher altitudes with panoramic views of the Annapurna Mountain range. The path follows ridges, climbs steep slopes, and crosses small rivers and streams, creating a varied and picturesque trekking experience.
The Mardi Himal trek route passes through a diverse range of ecosystems, starting with subtropical forests at lower elevations and transitioning to alpine meadows as the altitude increases. At higher altitudes, you’ll experience a rocky and often snow-covered landscape, offering a true Himalayan trekking adventure.

Next, we stop for lunch at Dhampus. From here onwards, you might find the road a bit erratic. You begin your descent along the lovely forest track after lunch. Then, keep going up and down the diverse terrain while admiring the stunning surroundings till you reach Pothana. You will now reach your hotels where you can take some rest and explore the valley when ready. The options for accommodation along the Mardi Himal trek route are limitless here. Walking Time: 6-7 hours.

Today, you will leave right after breakfast! Follow the rocky path that leads you out of the village. The trail soon changes into a forest path, and make sure to stay close to your group if you do not want to get lost.

Afterwards, you follow the trails through the jungle. As the name goes, today is a stay at the forest camp; therefore, you can expect tall trees and dense forests. It is a perfect spot to take in the greenery of your surroundings.
Also, this place offers an exotic way to witness flora and fauna. Birch, rhododendron, oak, hemlock, maple, and other trees can be found in the woodlands. Additionally, the air is clean and infused with an organic aroma, while the tree shades keep you cool and airy. Approximately an hour into the Mardi Himal trek, the trail becomes steep. In the Annapurna region, Low Camp is also a popular location for trekkers to watch sunrises and sunsets. Nevertheless, you must return to the tracks after lunch for high Camp.
This trail is particularly steep, so you are advised to be careful. Each time you climb, you will find the trail steeper. High Camp stands at an elevation of 3,500 meters, so you are bound to feel a bit cold. Once you check-in, you can set up your fire camp.

As the trek continues, the breathtaking mountain scenery gradually gives way to rugged terrains. You choose to move slowly and steadily along the ridge rather than on an unmarked trail.
Ascending through this path might be a bit tougher. To reach the base camp, you must pass through a large boulder field and climb the trails. As you gaze at the magnificent views under the clear blue sky, your eyes immediately catch sight of the picturesque scenery.
This is the most mesmerizing part of the trek, where you can see Annapurna base camp on one side, and on the other, you can see the Macchapuchhre. You have lunch at the base and continue walking back to High Camp after that. You spend the night in High Camp and take the same route back.

Hats off to the porters who were moving the trek equipments throughout. Once again thanks to WeRamblers and Mr. Nitesh for making this trek a successful one! Looking forward to more such great treks in the Himalayas. Biswarup Mohanty2024-06-02Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 2024, May 25 when I touched the EBC landmark stone, it was still unbelievable. Even though you planned for it a lot, still there are a few feelings that come. It's a tad bit emotional, a tad bit relief. I was just thinking each day I have to go to the next camp, probably this is [the last time]. In the lead up to that, because I was kind of preparing myself like 'oh maybe this is the last day', 'oh this is the last time I am going to trek', 'oh this is the last time I am reaching this camp.' So these sort of moments just kept playing in my mind a lot. In a way I was mentally prepared for whenever it had to happen. But I was so much more prepared for 25th May [last camp - Gorakshep]. Once that part of the trek zone was crossed, I was extremely elated and very, very happy and grateful. The day came around pretty fast, but overall it was a mixed feeling of relief, emotion and the fact that it has all come to an end. Huge thanks to "We Ramblers". Their flawless coordination across border made it look simple, but their Team at backend would have done a good amount of homework. Kudos to Subid, Nitesh Singh, our guide Dipendra, Devika and the unsung heroes - The Porters. "Adventure with safe hands! Say We Ramblers" Soumendra Mohanty2024-05-27Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was our first trek of EBC kind. We had lots of apprehensions. We Ramblers took care of everything, often going out of the way to advise, guide and handhold. Especially Subid, Nitesh and the guides Deepen and Devika. Wonderful experience and hospitality. Will strongly recommend We Ramblers for such treks. Agarwal ,Naveen2024-05-26Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thank you Team WeRamblers ! Thank You Subid Sir from Weramblers for introducing me to the world of multi-day trekking at high altitude. This was my first trek and hence I would call him quite frequently to ask silly questions . He prepared me for it very well. It was an amazingly smooth 14 day long Everest Base Camp Trek and its all because of the efficient services they have provided in terms of food, stay, guide and last but not the least knowledge sharing about the terrain. The trek leader Nitesh Sir, Rohit Sir and Shrering Sir were simply awesome. The sense of responsibility they showed during a sudden illness of some of our trekkers in our group clearly depicts the professionalism and efficiency of your service. I will surely love to trek again with weramblers in future. The best thing about memories is making them and you have just made this memory so special to me. Thanks a lot.
