Itinerary of Khopra Ridge Trek

Your arrival and reporting day in Pokhara for your Khopra Ridge Trek with Khayer Lake adventure. Today, we will brief you on the journey, after which you will have the day free. Pokhara, our starting point for the trek, is one of Nepal’s most popular tourist destinations. You can visit noteworthy attractions in Pokhara such as Bindhyabasini Temple, Davis Fall, Gupteswar Mahadev Cave, Mountain Museum, Phewa Lake, and so on. After exploring the city, spend the night at the hotel.

On Day 2 of the Khopra Danda Trek, we will drive to Kimche via Nayapul. The driving distance from Pokhara to Kimche is 52 kilometers and takes two hours. We will begin our trip from Kimche to Tadapani, a distance of 8 kilometers that will take us 5 hours to complete. After Kimche, we’ll head to Ghandruk village, which is only 45 minutes away. Gandruk Village is home to Nepal’s Gurung clans and is well-known for its scenic views and Gurung Museum.

After Ghandruk, the trail winds through lovely rhododendron forests, offering breathtaking views of Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, and Lamjung Himal. Tadapani is a magnificent Gurung settlement nestled in the forests. The views from here is breathtaking, with Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre, and Gangapurna visible. After arriving in Tadapani, you will have the day at leisure to explore this charming village.

The 7-kilometer hike to the elevation of 3,200 meters takes about five hours. The trail largely passes through rhododendron and bamboo forests, with a tiny stretch of grassy meadow after the settlement of Isharu. The trail travels through the settlement of Meshar and has both uphill and downhill sections. You can take some time here to re-energize yourself and refill your water bottles. The trail to the next pit break, Isharu, on our Khopra Ridge with Khayer Lake hike is one of the few places where Mt Annapurna and Mt Annapurna Fang can be seen well for the next 90 minutes or so. When you get in Dobato, relax at one of Nepal’s famous tea houses, with the Annapurna hills in the background.

The day begins with an 11-kilometer hike to an elevation of 4020 meters. The 7-hour walk begins with a pit stop at a secluded lake along the way. It is an excellent site that should be seen. The trail continues via the villages of Bayali and Chistibang. After lunch at Chistibang, there is a difficult climb upward with a clear view of the Dhaulagiri Range. When you get at Khopra Ridge, rest and unwind in the teahouse. The view from the tea house is unlike any other; you can see a stunning vista of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges from here.

The Khayer Lake (Baraha Tal) is located at a tremendous elevation of 4,600 meters, and the 15.5 km trek takes approximately 8 hours to finish. The path winds through the slopes of the Dhaulagiri Range on the left and the Kali Gandaki Gorge on the right. The exciting trek on the Khopra Ridge trekking itinerary is also one of the most thrilling. However, the gorgeous and majestic surroundings are enough to dispel the worry. Mt Tukche and Mt Nilgiri are the last panoramas before reaching the flat, freezing desert of Khayar. Set amidst the calm valley is the lone lake of Khayar, which has a temple on its bank. Khayar Lake offers a stunning view that is unlike any other Himalayan Lake. After lunch at a Tea House 1.5 kilometers from the lake, you can gradually descend to Khopra Ridge, which is around 3 hours away. Stay overnight at the Khopra Ridge mountain lodge.

The downhill descent of 10 kilometers takes about 5 hours. The trail once again passes through Chistibang. After arriving in Swata, you can spend the evening exploring the hamlet, terrace paddy farms, and the local school. After dinner, stay overnight in the mountain lodge.

Today we will travel to Hille, which will take 6 to 7 hours. The 11-kilometer downhill trail is framed by deep jungle and spectacular flora and animals, with an occasional vista of Mt Annapurna on the farthest corner. After arriving in Hille, we will drive to Pokhara, which will take another two hours. Stay one night in a hotel in Pokhara.

On the final day of the Khopra Ridge Trek (Khopra Danda Trek), you can either drive 6 hours from Pokhara to Kathmandu or take a 25-minute flight there. Tour ends.
